Pre-Orders: When will I get my Skimdevil Pure? 

We just started shipping the Skimdevil Pure the week of December 1, 2020! We sincerely apologize for the delay in Skimdevil Pure pre-orders. All of our Skimdevil pool robots are assembled and shipped from Florida. Currently, with the COVID-19 crisis and some engineering issues, we were experiencing production delays. We're working hard to get your Skimdevil Pure out to you as quickly as possible. All customers will receive a notification as soon as their Skimdevil ships out. Check out our blog for the latest updates on Skimdevil Pure production. Thank you for your patience with us through this process. 

Do you ship internationally? 

Right now, we do provide free shipping to customers domestically. Internationally we are only able to ship to Canada or Mexico at this time. There is a cost for shipping internationally to both of these countries.

First-gen Skimdevil App—Why am I seeing a firmware update message? 

Please ignore the firmware update. There are some issues with the app that are outside of our control and we can't remove that message unfortunately. We apologize for this frustrating issue. To resolve, please connect to your app with your phone in airplane mode. You should still be able to connect to the Skimdevil via bluetooth. 

I have other app issues—what should I do? 

Please email us and we will provide you with a workaround to any app problems. We can't promise to fix all of them, but we will try. Thank you! 

What is the difference between a pool skimmer and your pool skimmer? 

Often, in-ground pools come equipped with a filter, or skimmer, that sucks water in and sends it through the pool filter. Skimdevil is different in that it works more like your handheld basket pool skimmer (that ubiquitous pole next to the side of every pool)—it skims the top of the pool and is not taking water in to push it through a filter. The Skimdevil cleans up bugs, leaves, and other debris that sit on the top of your pool by motoring around the top and catching them and keeping them in its debris basket. Unlike your pole, the Skimdevil is covering the entirety of your pool—without the added risk of you falling in to scoop a dead bug. 

How long does it take to fully clean an average sized pool?

The Skimdevil cleans up to 4,000 sq ft per hour. For the adequate cleaning, Skimdevil doesn’t need to run all the time. It will clean the pool efficiently and can be programmed and customized to fit your needs.

Can the Skimdevil go under water? 

No. If the Skimdevil is submerged, it will stop working. Don't let the kiddos jump on it or use it as a pool submarine :) In such a case, the warranty could be void.

Does the Skimdevil work in chlorine and salt water pools? 

Yes! The Skimdevil can be used in chlorine pools, salt water pools, or natural ponds.

Can I use Skimdevil in my infinity pool?

Our first Skimdevil unit was suitable for all in-ground and above ground pools with a typical pool edge. The Skimdevil Pure only has top sensors and would not be suitable for an infinity pool. But, we do will eventually release the Skimdevil Pure+, which will have bottoms sensors so it may be used in infinity pools, overflow pools and natural ponds. How much does the Skimdevil weigh?

The Skimdevil Pure weighs a little over 12 pounds. The newest model is sturdier and solid than the first version. It also has an easy-to-grip handle to help lift it easily out of the pool for cleaning. 

Can I use the Skimdevil with my pool service?

Yes. The Skimdevil's great skimming power makes your pool company happy and your pool much cleaner. Typically, the pool service is done once a week while Skimdevil works all the time. A cleaner pool, every day. 

What if it rains and my Skimdevil is out. Will it be ok? 

Yes. The Skimdevil is weatherproof and can be left in the pool most of the time. However, we recommend that you take it out if you expect stronger storms or winds. Florida, we're looking at you. 

Do I still need a vacuum for my pool? Or filter? 

You still do need to filter your pool, but, because the Skimdevil is regularly getting rid of most of the surface debris, your pool filter isn't working as hard and extends the life of your pump. Plus, less debris = less pollutants. Your chemical balance should fluctuate less. 

How long does the solar charge for my Skimdevil last? How long does it have to be in direct sun in order to charge? What if I have a pool that is in the shade? 

If you use solar to charge your robot, it should have about 5-6 hours of runtime. In ideal conditions, you only need roughly 4 hours of direct sunlight. But as it’s dependent on the sun, much of that depends on time of year, day, sky conditions, pool shade, etc. That number can fluctuate. The Skimdevil also comes with a wall charger in the event your pool is located in a shady spot. But, many of our customers never end up using their AC/DC charger to power up their Skimdevil pool robots.

How long does it need to be plugged into the wall to charge? How long does that charge last? 

The Skimdevil will be fully charged by using AC/DC charger in 3-3.5 hours. If there is no solar energy available, the Skimdevil will have 4 hours of a charge.

Do you have to clean or maintain the solar panels? 

No. However if for some reason they are dirty, they can be cleaned just with water or a non-abrasive cleaner.

Can the Skimdevil scoop up small particles? 

Skimdevil is supplied with a generic basket mesh size that will pick up the majority of your pool debris. For really fine particles, sand, pollen, etc. we will be offering a special basket with extremely fine mesh that can be swapped out for the standard basket.

I'm not happy with the Skimdevil. What is the warranty on the product? 

Oh no! We're sorry you're not happy with the Skimdevil. Our company offers a one year limited warranty.* The Skimdevil can also be returned, with a full refund within 30 days of delivery of the Skimdevil. If you’re not happy with your Skimdevil and wish to return it, see the returns and warranty page for more details. I'd like to cancel my Pure pre-order. What do I do? 

Please email support@skimdevil.com and request a cancellation. We will process your request and you should receive a refund in 7-10 business days.
